LEONES FC METHODOLOGY: TRAINING PHASES AND DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES
Basic Training (Ages 6 to 10)
Focus: Developing essential athletic abilities such as speed, agility, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, and power. Introducing key soccer techniques, including dribbling, ball control, trapping, shooting, corner kicks, penalty kicks, goal kicks, free kicks, and passing. Beginning to teach foundational “Pre-Tactical” concepts, such as scoring through combination play and teamwork.
Intermediate Training (Ages 11 to 12)
Focus: Mastering fundamental soccer techniques with a combination of practice games, demonstrations, and personalized corrections. Enhancing technical abilities like speed, agility, balance, flexibility, strength, and power. Introducing players to specific positional roles—goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, and forward—and the responsibilities of each. Teaching tactical elements such as formations (e.g., 4-4-2, 3-5-2) and the execution of offensive and defensive corner and free kicks, including wall setups and positioning.
Advanced Training (Ages 13 to 16)
Focus: Refining and expanding technical and tactical skills to meet the competitive demands of match play. Tailored training for individual, group, and team tactics, with an emphasis on understanding positional roles within the team. Teaching players to adapt to changing rhythms and areas of play, build attacks safely, and effectively utilize the wings to create scoring opportunities.
